It was a beautiful September night. The cieling of the great hall was littered with stars as it showed the clear night. The night was a bit cool but they were warm and toasty inside the walls of Hogwarts. Knelb had on his usual long green emrald robes as his glasses rested on his nose. His small grey beard neatly trimmed as his hair was hidden under a tall black wizard hat.
He sat in the tall chair at the center of the Staff Table. The first here as he awaited the arrival of other professors. The students had not arrived yet and they would have to go through the sorting still so it was a bit early. With a large smile on his face he began to twiddle his thumbs as everything was ready.
(Students may not post yet. This is before the feast has started. when I say you can post you may. Professors can post though. Thank you.)

Professor Beach slowly walked in, noticing the headmaster he said "Good Evening Professor Berton." Josh slowly walked over to the seat to Professor Berton's left and sat down.

Melanie was - to say the least - not in the best of moods this evening. She strode down the corridor to the Great Hall with defiant clicks of her heels, her deep blue robes and silver-stitched hem swishing around her to avoid being trampled on by her feet.
This anger, she grungingly would have to admit, sprouted when she had gone to prepare for the feast and had been unable to find any of her hair clips. She had given them to the houseelves for cleaning but they, as she understood it, were not through with them yet. Therefore, her long red curls hung loosely around her face and she was less than pleased about that. She never wore her hair down in public.
At least try to be amiable..... she reminded herself as she swung open the side doors and walked in, telling herself to at least appear in good spirits. Striding up to the staff table she took a seat beside Professor Beach and settled herself.
"Good evening," she said naturally, no hint of her emotion in her voice, "I trust I find you all well."

"Naturally," Melanie said as she pulled her chair closer to the table and crossed her ankles beneath her chair. She reached up and pushed back an auburn curl behind her shoulder and tried not to look as irritable as she felt, "We have much to look forward to with the coming year, I would think. The students, judging by their level of volume, are enjoying themselves already I fear."

"Yes, I fear the same. I guess we will have to consult Professor Thorne on future events. Personally I wish the students not go to the joke shops, I just sparks ideas into them to create mischief."

He looked over to Professor Vehrs as she walked in and to Professor beach as he walked in.
"Good evening to you two." He said as he took a sip of his glass.
"Swiss Alps eh? Thats nice. Ive been there once or twice in my life. They are nice." He said to Professor Beach as looked past to see over to Professor Vehrs.
"Yes it seems they wil all be in here shortly." He said with a smile as he looked towards the door.

Holly nimbly turned the corner leading from her office, near the rear exit of the castle. She had been preparing her first lesson, which was to start tomorrow. As she passed by the cooridor leading to the Entrance Hall, she smiled. The sounds of the rambunxious students awaiting Professor Thorne to open the doors always gave her a warm feeling inside.
She entered the Great Hall with a large smile on her face. Her patch-work hat seemed to have been washed just for the occasion. Her apron was spotless and white as snow, which contrasted against her pitch-black robes, with brown hemming.
With a nodd, she took her place next Professor Verhs, leaving the spot next to Berton for Cody. "Good evening, Knelb, Josh, Melanie. I trust your holidays were spectacular?" The oldwoman said with a smile on her face.

"Ah, Holy, Good evening. yes my holiday was wonderful. And yours?" he asked as he turned to her to look. he could here the shouts of the T's bieng sorted from the hallway. The feast was not far off. He was not nervous about his speech. He didnt really even have one prepared. He just spoke his mind all the time and so he sat with a smile as always.

Holly smiled and nodded when Beach, and Berton reported of their holidays and the good times. "Oh yes, indeed. I was honored to attend the Queen's Jubilee. How was your holiday, Melanie? Well, I trust?" The old woman smiled and straightened her robes, wiping the fuzz off of her apron.

Melanie listened politely to the conversation though her mind kept wavering to the auburn locks now weighing heavily on her shoulders. It was such a small change - nothing really that anyone would note most likely - but to her it made the largest of differences. It made, almost but not quite, self concious.
Upon Holly's inquiry she looked over with a bright expression and smiled pleasantly, "Oh yes, it was lovely. I spent a bit of time in Ireland seeing a few sights and made quite a dent in my reading list. Overall a wonderful holiday."

((STUDENTS MAY NOW POST))
As Knelb looked over to Melanie as she spoke he noticed something.
"Say Melanie? Did you get a new robe? maybe a haircut? I cant really pick it out..." he said and with that the door burst open to a roar of laughter and chatter as the anxious first years began to situate themselves in their respective houses. Beyond that he could see the rest of the house years waiting to come in. Many looking happy and joyful and others irritated at why they have to stand for so long.
"O! Looks like its about time!" He said with a chuckle as he leaned back into his seat and began waving at the young first years.

Melanie, desperately wishing she could control the flame now rising in her cheeks - pale but still recognizable - shook her head and with irritability noticed how her curls hit on her face as she did so.
At least they might hide some of this blush... she thought hopefully as the great hall filled with a multitude of young voices and a great rush began to encompass the whole of the room called the great hall.
"No, no, nothing like that," she said, reverting her attention to the incoming students as a way of avoiding any future reference of Professor Berton's point.

Amelia, leading her housemates into the hall as prefect, made her way down the isle between the Slytherin and Ravenclaw tables until she found a seat on the far side nearest to the staff table. She took a quick glance up to see which teachers had changed, which were new, and which had remained exactly the same. The latter, she found, was the most prominent as she took her seat and smoothed her uniform black robes.
From her seat she could see the rest of the hall and all other students - except one. For some reason she had lost sight of Sean in the process of entering and now she raised her eyes expecting to see him sitting not far from here, but to no avail.
Why do you care so much? You've spoken all of three words to him......
