I am, the one and only, Professor Vehrs. I head the Defense Against the Dark Arts class, in addition to being Head of Ravenclaw House, if you have not yet realized this. I am strict, but fair. Through the course of my classes I will offer innumerable opportunities to earn house points and other special awards. It is up to the individual roleplayer to decide whether or not they would like to take advantage of these opportunities. For those of you hoping to get on my good side from the start, I advise you to take any and all options for participation in my classroom.
Please read through ALL the rules before posting in any of my lesson threads. The rules are simple and to the point. They are as follows.
POSTING:
Please post only to participate in the lesson of the class. I ask that you do not have side conversations that do not pertain directly to my intended learning outcomes. If I am to teach to the best of my abilities I do not need twenty posts between each of mine, few of which will have anything to do with the day's lesson. Your cooperation on this point is crucial to the success of the thread.
ENTERING/EXITING CLASS:
When you come into class, if the lesson has not yet begun please feel free to post that your character has entered the room. For example: "Michael came into the classroom and took his seat." Please, do not, I repeat, DO NOT, post that your character has entered the room after the lesson has started. There is no such thing as tardiness in my lesson threads, just post as if you were there the entire time. Example: "From his seat at the back of the classroom Michael could see Professor Vehrs speaking." When I am through with my lesson I will dismiss you, but you need not say "Michael left the room." If you no longer post from then on I will simply assume you have left.
CLASS PARTICIPATION:
Throughout the course of my class you will see my post questions or ask for comments. These are opportunities to earn house points. The amount they are worth will depend directly on the difficulty of the question or the creativity in the answer. I fully expect these questions to be answered and not ignored. In addition, the more you participate in class the better you will do on the homework assignments, guaranteed.
HOMEWORK:
On that same note, at the end of the lesson I will assign a homework assignment. These projects vary depending on the class outcome and how much time I had to create the assignment. You may chose to do the assignment or not, it is fully your choice. YOU NEED NOT BE PRESENT IN CLASS TO DO THE ASSIGNMENT. Each project will be graded and your house will be awarded points based on your grade.
HOMEWORK SUBMISSION:
Any and all homework should be submitted to me through a PM. This applies to all students. The form below is what should be used on every assignment regardless of what it is. Failure to use this layout will result in an automatic T on the assignment.
Name:
House:
Year:
Answer to Assignment
All grades will be posted in the "DADA Grades" Thread. I usually have all assignments graded within three days.
GRADING SCALE:
Self explanatory I should assume. This is the same scale used in the books.
O - Outstanding (10 points)
E - Exceeds Expectations (8 points)
A - Acceptable (5 points)
D - Dismal (3 points)
T - Troll (0 points)
Any questions about my teaching methods or about the rules may be directed to me through a PM.
As a reward for all of you who read this through to the end, I have a special incentive. I just adore those who actually follow instructions. Simply PM me using the form given above and where you are to put the answers type "Following instructions is a sign of intelligence." This will result in house points earned. Thank you to all who are off to a wonderful DADA class career.
Respectively,
Professor Vehrs
