Melanie's feeling of being slightly irked that Ariel had spoken without permission quickly evaporated as she supplied the right answer, earning her one of Professor Vehrs' infamous nods.
"Five points to Gryffindor, Miss Skyl," she said, her eyes scanning the class to ensure each student was attentive, "She was indeed, correct, in her answer that an opponent's wand would be knocked from their grasp when the Expelliarmus charm was used. Any weapon held would be released from it's owner when the spell is used correctly."
Reaching the head of the class she turned sharply to face the seated students, her eyes settling briefly on each in turn.
"For the next portion of the lesson I will need two volunteers. I would suggest you only supply yourself for this position if you are a fourth year or above and very magic savvy."

Alexia raised her hand.
"I'll volunteer as well," she said.

Sean hurd something about volunteers as he peeked up at the front of the class.
Ha... I'll pass standing up infront of the whole class. he thought to himself as he looked at who volunteerd. He never liked getting up when he didnt want to let alone infront of everyone. Maybe he was just lazy... Actually, he was very un-lazy when he put his mind to it.

So willing and yet they have no idea what they are volunteering for......such faith...
"Very well then," Melanie said curtly, nodding to the two students who had offered their services, "Mr. Brown and Miss Knightly, please make your way to the head of the class, and don't forget to bring your wands. They may come in handy."

"Josh picked up his wand and headed to the front of class finally noticing how many pairs of eyes, that were watching him."

Ariel sat back, watching her fellow Gryffindor and that Slytherin from Divination walk up. As he walked by her, she whispered to him. "Whatever the 'test' is, you show her Captain." She also recognized him as the Quidditch captain. She put her hand on her wand, in case the Slytherin tried anything sneaky.

Josh heard Ariel as he walked by and he whispered, "don't worry, I got this."

Sean watched tennatively to see what was going to happen. If they had a duel it would be something. People seemed to have something against the Slytherin allready so he assumed Josh would get the cheers.
He watched closer then he had during the actual lesson as this was exciting to him. He held his wand tightly also just for the feel of it.

Alexia stood and followed Josh, pulling her wand from her robes.
"Hostile lot, this is," she muttered under her breath, looking around.

Elias grinned as he noticed the two volunteer, but even though he didn't know what they were going to do he knew it wasn't suppose to be expected. But the clue of it was Professor Verhs grinning and such...

"Very well then, the two of you please stand each on one side of me, and please leave your wands for a moment. There is work to be done first, and instructions to be given."
Glancing at the both of them to make sure they had taken the point, Melanie took out her own wand, spinning it through the air as she created two slips of parchment out of thin air. Unbeknowst the the students in her class, on each of the pieces of paper was written either Protego or Expelliarmus. Her wandwork finished, she lowered her wand - leaving the parchment pieces floating at eye level of the two students.
"Each of you, please choose one piece from the air, but do not open it until I command," she instructed, taking a step back to allow better area to work for her pupils.

"Now then," Melanie said, nodding to the both of them when they had taken their respective pieces of parchment, "If you'll both open your pieces and reveal to the class what is written on it, we may continue with the lesson. Quickly, now, we mustn't waste any time."
